Week 2

Jase's parents are lovely but I am getting a bit worn down by the constant jibber-jabber. His Dad is going deaf(although he doesn't think so) so there is a lot of repetition in conversation.

Here is a pretty much word for word example of a multiple daily occurrence:

Mom: Does anyone want a cup of tea?
Dad:Are you having a cup Jason?
Mom: Does Marga want one?
ME: Yes please
Dad: Oh does Firefly want one?
Mom: What's Jason want?
Jase: anything mom
Dad: What's Jason having then, chai or regular?
Mom Chai or regular Jase?
Jase: whatever, what do you want mom?
Mom: Oh I don't know, anything'll do for me
Dad: Is Jason having Chai?
Jase: Chai!
Dad: I'll have chai then
Mom: Firefly what'll you have
ME: Just make a pot of chai for everyone
Mom: Oh I don;'t want chai, I'll just put a bag of regular tea in my cup
Dad: Is Firefly having chai

Substitute any food/snack/beverage item and you have an idea of our nightly routine. When I am alone with them during the day there is no escape, if I don't talk to them they just go back and forth between each other. It is hard getting used to having people around all the time, I am used to being alone and quiet.

Another thing I have to get used to is that they eat desert every day! I am never going to lose any weight. I have been trying to avoid the desserts but his mom is unstoppable. When we are in the shops I try to steer her clear of the pastry/cake aisle but we always end up there where she picks out a desert for the night, although she won't have any(or so she says, she somehow ends up with a portion every night). She made dinner the other night; chips(fries), fried eggs, beans, peas, and bread, and the amount of oil she used for frying was so gross! I now have a big water bottle of used oil in the cupboard waiting to be reused...ugh

We have gone through more white bread, butter, oil, milk, potatoes, and cheese slices(which we never have) these 2 weeks than I usually use in months.

But the are lovely people....

Oh my gosh, you poor thing. I'd go nuts. You shoud get a prize for being a lovely daughter-in-law. It is always hard to share your space for too long. I'll be thinking of you. When are they leaving?

hugs,
Tammy

That conversation gave me a chuckle. Love it. Hope you get back to sanity soon.
